Gender and Identity in HIS Plan
For many God is not part of their life, nor is it even a belief in their books. In the book of Moroni chapter ten verse 5 it says, “By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.” I promise you that if you read this with an open heart and mind you will feel of the truthfulness of what I am going to say through the power of the Holy Ghost. God our Father in Heaven created a plan long ago, establishing a way for all of his children to return to live with him again. Every single person on this earth is a child of God and has the opportunity to return to our Father in Heaven and live in a state of glory and happiness. Every single one of us decided to follow God’s plan, which consists of us coming to this earth, being tried and making decision, and learning more about our Savior Jesus Christ. As we follow Gods plan we can receive all that our Father has instore for us.
There is almost nothing more important then the family in God’s plan. All of God’s teachings are centered around the family and because of the family we are able to return and live in God’s presence. All family units differ depending on beliefs and ones own personal decisions. Some families consist of a mother and a father, while others may consist of just one or the other. In current time, there may even be families that consist of two women or two men. God however establish a family consisting of one man and one wife. In which the two of them may multiply and replenish the earth bring joy to themselves and their posterity.
In the Bible, 1 Corinthians chapter eleven verse eleven it says, “Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.” It might be hard to understand this principle if you do not believe in God, but through faith and perseverance in seeking the truth one can find the truth of God and understand his teachings. Since the beginning of Gods plan, he created man and woman to be together not just for this life, but for all eternity. President Dallin H. Oaks said, “God created us male and female. What we call gender was an essential characteristic of our existence prior to our birth.” It is hard to understand what went on before this life, the more we are able to trust and rely on God, the better off we can be. One may say, it is hard to trust something that we don’t see, but we trust things that can not be seen all the time. We trust that no matter what the sun will rise every morning and set every evening. Even when it’s the dead of night we know it will sooner or later rise. We also know that if we plant a seed and nourish it, it can become a beautiful flower or a strong and steady tree. Like we see not a seed grow, we also do not see our Father in Heaven or really remember what went on before this life. But as mentioned above, if we trust in him like we trust in a seed to grow we will see the light and understand all that was brought before us before we came to this earth.
Truth for anyone is hard to understand at the very beginning or introduction to it. But the more we practice the teachings the more will understand the why. No one really understands why two plus two is four, but the more we try to apply it into our lives and ponder on the teachings one is able to understand the “why”. In President Oaks talk, same-gender attraction he says, “Satan desires that all men might be miserable like unto himself, his most strenuous efforts are directed at encouraging those choices and actions that will thwart god’s plan for his children.” The correct choice might not always be the popular choice, but the best choice will always lead to a happier life and stronger relationship with our Father in Heaven.
