The Plan of Salvation
It is often said that we are who we choose to be, but are we. We are all sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. Gender and identity are essential to the plan of salvation. The plan of salvation includes the atonement of Jesus Christ, the fall of Adam and Eve, creation and also the ordinances and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Being able to identify who we are and the roles that we each will allow us partake of the plan. We were all given agency, the right to choose and act for ourselves. Choosing to live by what the world would deem as being right is never accepted by the Saviour. Accepting that you were born in another person’s body prevents them from playing the role that is necessary. It puts a limitation and decreases the likelihood of spirit children being born and also being a part of a family.

The Plan of Salvation would just be a plan without a meaning if people did not believe in the sanctity of life. No one would be interested in keeping covenants and this will lead to children being born out of wedlock and also people doing whatever makes them happy without even thinking about consequences. A man and a woman play an important role in being partners with our Father in Heaven to bring forth a blessing into this world. “The purpose of mortal life and the mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is to prepare the sons and daughters of God for their destiny to become like our heavenly parents.” (Elder Dallin Oaks)
The Savior feels very strongly about gender because it is through this divine spirit that we are assigned our different roles as we come to earth. If we choose to change our gender it is simply neglecting what we are meant to do here as a man or a woman. There is no question about if He wants us to embrace who we are really meant to be, since this is how we can learn and progress in our quest to become like Him and our Heavenly father, and even to become gods or goddesses.
The way how the Saviour feels is portrayed in different ways. His love is endless, and we are guided each and every day that we might have eternal life. Moroni 7:19 speaks about doing good and if we follow on that path , then we shall be called children of God. We were also reminded that no matter what we are going , we should never worry ourselves and that “we will always be His children”(Doctrine and Covenant 50:40-41). Mosiah 3:19 reminds us about the natural man and that we should put it off in order to become sons and daughters of the believer.
Often times there is so much struggle going on in one’s life and they may need help in becoming close to the Saviour. There are several scriptures that might help a person who had gender and identity and wants to have hope and feel close to the Savior again. Doctrine & Covenants 131:1–4 and 132, that having exaltation and entering in the celestial kingdom is only available to a man and a woman who have been faithful to their covenants in the temple, through marriage. Another scripture that will be beneficial is 2 Nephi 2:27 and it speaks about the desires that Satan has in working overtime to make us miserable like himself in not choosing the right. Struggling is a part of growing for us as individuals and should be focused on what God has deemed for us rather than what the world has to say.
